With the evolving innovations in the field of dentistry, there is now an option to give you a smile make over. You can have porcelain veneers bonded on your teeth so that you can smile more freely.
Porcelain veneers are thin shells made of ceramic material. Once the dentist bonds them to the front of your teeth, all your troubles such as yellow teeth, stained teeth, crooked or bad teeth are over. Porcelain veneers are expensive but the relief and confidence that you get are for lifetime. However, it is imperative that an experienced dentist performs this procedure, as they will aesthetically do the process. Moreover, porcelain veneers are irreversible procedures and need careful handling.

Porcelain veneers can rectify various cosmetic related teeth problems. It can repair uneven teeth, reduce excess gum on your teeth, fix chipped teeth due to an injury as well as minimize the sensitivity in your teeth. All these reasons make it a popular option among dentists and their customers.
There are many benefits of porcelain veneers. They make your teeth look natural as the ceramic material is akin to the tooth enamels. They are durable and permanent, doing away with constant check-ups with the dentist. They also fill the gaps between the teeth making it look even and regular.

Porcelain veneers before and after

What are porcelain veneers made out of?

Porcelain veneers come in different type of materials and your cosmetic dentist will apply one, depending on the condition of the teeth.

Composite Material Veneers
In this procedure, the cosmetic dentist makes the porcelain veneers directly on the patient's teeth. The dentist makes the veneers on the spot with his own hands and then smoothens and polishes the teeth to make it look natural. This procedure is a test to the artistic talent of the cosmetic dentist and requires only one sitting. However, the composite material is not as strong as porcelain veneers and can stain easily.

Pressed Ceramic Veneers
In this procedure, the ceramic is thicker and requires more tooth shaping. Dentists recommend pressed ceramic veneers to patients who need longer teeth and have a bigger smile line. Since these are made in one colour, only a skilled ceramist can cut back and layer it with effective veneers.

Feldspathic ceramic veneers
In this procedure, the ceramist keeps heating the thin layer of porcelain veneer in a porcelain oven until it matches the right colour of your teeth. Feldspathic ceramic veneers can cover the stain and darker discolouration, bringing back your natural teeth. However, this is not a strong veneer and the cosmetic dentist will recommend it only, if there is less teeth removal process.

Leucite pressed ceramic veneers
In the procedure, the ceramist can make the porcelain veneer as thin as two mm. Leucite pressed ceramic veneers are very strong and require less reshaping of teeth. Its optic bonding properties selects the colour from the tooth to move from monochromatic to polychromatic, thereby making the veneer in the natural colour of your teeth.

Lithium disilicate veneers
This is the latest type of porcelain veneers made in ceramic material and currently used by many cosmetic dentists. Lithium Disilicate veneers are very strong and resistant to chipping.
