Your Dentist in Scarborough is Always Here for You

September 25, 2018

man with dental painYou know you are supposed to visit your dentist in Scarborough twice a year. You expect to fit these appointments into your schedule every 6 months. Unfortunately, not all trips to your dentist can be planned beforehand, like during a dental emergency. Although you may never imagine yourself in this situation, one in six Americans faces one every year. If it happens to you, do you have a dentist who will be there for you?

We are Here for You

When having a dental emergency, like a knocked-out tooth or a severe toothache, you need immediate care. If you wait too long to see an emergency dentist in Scarborough, it could end up costing you your tooth. To get the relief you need, there are several locations in the area who offer emergency services; however, there are some limitations. If it is a weekend or after hours, they may not be able to see you. You do not have time to waste. You need a dentist right now!

At BAL Dental Centre, we are always here for our patients—especially during times of emergency. We understand that some visits cannot be planned, which is why we offer weekend and after hours appointments.

We will provide you with the quick care you need to stop your discomfort, so you can get back to your day. In the meantime, we encourage you to respond to the situation at home to help save your tooth.

Knocked Out Tooth

Hold your tooth by the crown and rinse it with water. Do not use any soaps, cleaners, or dry it. Gently try to insert it back into the socket. If you cannot, place it in a cup of milk or water.

Dislodged Tooth

Push the tooth back into position and bite on a piece of gauze to prevent it from moving.

Toothache

This may be a sign of an infection. Use over-the-counter pain relievers to manage your discomfort.

Broken Tooth

Rinse your mouth with warm salt water and keep your tooth clean. Avoid chewing on it until after it has been repaired. If swelling occurs, apply a cold compress to the outside of your face.

Broken Restoration

If a filling, denture, crown, or oral appliance breaks, do not repair it on your own. Instead, keep your mouth clean and contact your dentist.

Object in Teeth

Carefully try to remove it with a piece of dental floss. Never use a metal or sharp instrument to get it out.
