Meet Our Scarborough Dental Team
Ruby, Office Manager
Ruby is from Toronto and has spent the last seven years in dentistry, first starting with this practice five years ago. She has a Bachelors in Engineering (Electronics) and has additional training in dental radiology, advanced Invisalign, project management, and treatment co-ordination. She loves seeing the big smiles on patients’ faces after wisdom teeth extraction and hearing them say “I didn’t feel anything. I was nervous for nothing!”
Tasha, Office Administrator
Tasha has been with our practice for a year so far. She has a degree in Law & Business from Ryerson University with a minor in Professional Communication. She has also undergone legal research at the university and has her OTL license from Financial Services of Ontario (FSCO). She loves being able to put a smile on every patient’s face!
Tasha is from Toronto, and she’s a true adrenaline junkie and spontaneous traveler. She’s actually traveled to over 20 countries in one year before! She loves expanding her skills and knowledge and taking on new challenges whenever possible.
Candice, Registered Dental Hygienist
Candice has been working in dentistry for two years so far, and she’s always happy to see an appreciative patient who’s enjoying a new, beautiful smile! Originally from Toronto, she attended The Canadian Academy of Dental Health & Community Sciences and Gulf Medical University. She is certified in CPR (HCP Level) and has additional training in orthodontics and dental administration.
Candice’s family consists of her and her well-trained parrot. Her hobbies outside of work include biking, fishing, hiking, art, and volunteering. In the past, she actually won the Miss India Princess Modelling competition but chose not to go to the finale.
Debbie, Registered Dental Hygienist
Debbie first joined our team two years ago, and she has 19 overall years of experience in the dental world. She attended Durham College (graduating with high honors) and then moved onto Oxford, where she was the Valedictorian of her dental hygiene class! She is certified in CPR, First Aid, and Invisalign and has worked in a variety of dental specialties, including 10 years in orthodontics, 12 in oral surgery, and 5 in pediatric care. She is a proud member of the ODAA and the CDHA. Her favorite part of the job is being able to educate patients about the relationship between dental health and overall personal health. She loves giving hygiene tips and tricks and seeing the improvements in patients over time.
Debbie is from Ajax, and she has a loving husband of 11 years, an adorable daughter, a charming son, and two energetic dogs. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, shopping, traveling to exotic places, Latin dancing, and watching home renovation shows. Her friends and family say she’s an overachiever who frequently seeks new challenges to conquer. She likes to keep things interesting!
Gurleen, Hygiene Coordinator/Dental Assistant
Gurleen is from Pickering, and she’s been a part of our staff for six years and counting. She has her college degree from the University of Toronto, where she double majored in human biology and neuroscience. She also achieved her certification in Healing Arts Radiation Protection (HARP) from George Brown College as an honors student. She thinks that working in dentistry has countless rewarding moments, but her favorite is definitely being a part of giving someone back their smile.
Gurleen comes from a busy family and is the eldest of three with two younger brothers. When she isn’t busy at work, she enjoys cooking, reading, and spending time with her loved ones. She is working hard towards being a dentist!
Mariam, Dental Assistant
Mariam has been working in the dental field for 14 years so far, and the last three of them were spent right here at our practice. She is from Pickering and attended the Toronto School of Business at Everest College. Her favorite part of her job is being able to comfort patients who start out nervous about their appointment and then leave with a big smile on their face!
Mariam has a beautiful daughter and a loving husband. Outside of the practice, she enjoys dancing, horseback riding, and traveling. She is an avid foodie and is always looking to try new restaurants in the city.
Najma, Registered Dental Assistant
As a dental assistant, Najma is able to do pretty much everything around the office, whether that’s help you at the front desk or assist Dr. Bal chairside. She has over 4 years of experience in dentistry, and she enjoys her job immensely because she loves interacting with people and caring for patients and their families, all the while working with an amazing dental team. After graduating from the North Toronto Collegiate Institute, she received her dental training at Oxford College.
At home, Najma is all about her family, and in her words, her kids’ happiness is her happiness. During her free time, she likes meeting new people and traveling.
Niru, Registered Nurse
Niru joined us in early 2017 and brings over 7 years of nursing experience to our practice. She loves how her job enables her to help many different kinds of people, and she looks forward to it every day. She is a graduate of George Brown College in Toronto. Dedicated to education, she has received the Academic Pathway for Internationally Educated Nurses Graduate Certificate, the Interprofessional Collaborative Care Certificate, as well as special training in IV therapy and phlebotomy.
Niru is happily married and the proud parent of two lovely daughters. When she can, she enjoys traveling and gardening.
Situ, Dental Administrator
Situ has over 8 years of experience in dentistry, and she is who we rely on to keep our office organized every day. She chose to go into the dental field because it gives her the chance to help people achieve and maintain healthy, beautiful smiles. She has a BA from the University of Gloucestershire and a MBA from Cardiff Metropolitan University. For dental school, she attended London Thames College. She has also passed the National Examining Board for dental nurses and is a member of the General Dental Council.
She is originally from Kathmandu, Nepal, and outside of dentistry, she likes to spend her time with her wonderful family. Her hobbies include travelling, meeting new people, and learning about new cultures and traditions.
